General Education Program Goals and Objectives

General Education at Adam University contributes to the mission of providing professional education by:  developing and enhancing competencies in communication and computer technology; providing essential general knowledge in the sciences, mathematics, humanities and the social sciences; promoting the integration, synthesis and application of knowledge; developing the skills needed to assess the ethical and practical consequences of actions; and integrating these skills and areas of knowledge to promote life-long learning.

 

General Education Outcomes

 

Graduates will be able to:

  1. Communicate appropriately for a range of purposes and audiences;
  2. Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems, contrast personal positions and evaluate alternative philosophies;
  3. Interpret and use numerical information;
  4. Apply mathematical models and methods in problem solving;
  5. Apply the scientific method in decision making;
  6. Articulate ethical considerations in decision making;
  7. Investigate global issues and diverse cultures and environments as they have developed over time;
  8. Evaluate the impact and importance of the arts, humanities and sciences on culture and human progress;

Undergraduate Degrees Offered

Students will receive a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in:

  1. Business Administration
  2. Management
  3. Marketing
  4. Accounting
  5. Management Information System

 

Students will receive a Bachelors of Arts Degree with a major in:

  1. Mass Communications
  2. Psychology

 

Requirements for a Baccalaureate Degree:

To earn a Bachelors Degree, the following conditions must be achieved:

  1. Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours.
  2. Meet the 30 credit general education requirement.
  3. Successfully complete a major.
  4. Achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  5. Achieve a minimum 2.00 grade point average in the major.
  6. Complete a minimum of 30 semester hours at Adam University.
  7. Demonstrate ability to pay
